Robbie Williams tickets sell out in 45 minutes following ticketing frenzy
Webscreen Technology ensures Robbie Williams can entertain fans with secure web presence availability service
Leeds, UK - 22nd November 2005. Tickets for Robbie William's 2006 UK tour went on sale last Saturday and as expected the websites of official ticketing vendors such as Seetickets.com were bombarded with thousands of hopeful fans trying to get hold of the much sort after tickets.
To cope with the demand, Majestic Interactive who host the Seetickets.com website enlisted the help of Webscreen Technology to ensure that the ticketing website could cope with the anticipated high demand.
A WS100 Webscreen was installed by IT security managed service provider, Boxing Orange to continually monitor the quality and quantity of connections and ensure that the website could cope with high volumes of traffic.
"With the expected massive demand for Robbie Williams tickets it became apparent that the sheer volume of traffic would result in the site being overwhelmed and suspended," explains Jeremy Gidlow, business systems manager, Majestic Interactive. "We'd worked with both Webscreen Technology and Boxing Orange before on other high profile events, so knew that we were in safe hands."
"The Webscreen solution uses CHARM technology to look at the behaviour patterns of legitimate traffic requesting access to a website and also by limiting the amount of traffic in proportion to the website's own performance criteria, ensuring that a website can cope with peaks in demand," explains Robin Hill, vice president of sales at Webscreen Technology.
At the height of the ticketing frenzy, the Boxing Orange/Webscreen solution was blocking 198,000 connections, enabling the ticketing site to remain trading and ensure that all tickets were sold within 45 minutes of going on sale.
